These terms apply to everyone who uses the EdCal application, which institutions such as universities use to publish course calendars to their staff and students. The application is run by EdCal Ltd ("EdCal", "we"), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16186215, registered office 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX.
You use EdCal because your institution subscribes to it. Your institution's contract with us sets out the service we provide to it. Where these terms and that contract differ, the contract applies.
Who can use EdCal
You can use EdCal if your institution has given you access, usually by letting you sign in with your institution's Microsoft or Google account. Your institution decides who has access and what each person can do, for example whether you can only view and subscribe to calendars, or can also manage courses and events as an administrator.
Using EdCal properly
You must not use EdCal in a way that:
- is unlawful, harmful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, infringing or harassing
- is discriminatory on grounds of race, sex, religion or belief, sexual orientation, disability or any other characteristic protected by law
- helps or encourages illegal activity, or promotes unlawful violence
- includes sexually explicit images
- causes damage or injury to any person or property
- tries to get around security or access controls, or to reach data you haven't been given access to
- copies, adapts, reverse engineers, decompiles or disassembles the application, except as the law allows
If we become aware of use like this, we report it to your institution, which may remove your access. If it puts the service or other users at risk, we may suspend access straight away and tell your institution.
Your account and calendar links
Keep your sign-in details secure, and tell your institution's help desk straight away if you think someone else has used your account. Your personal calendar feed link gives access to your calendar, so don't share it with anyone you don't want to see it.
Your institution's data and our platform
Your institution owns the data and content it and its users put into EdCal, including course and event information. We use that data only to provide the service, as your institution instructs us. Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal data.
EdCal Ltd owns the application, its software and its documentation. Using EdCal doesn't give you any rights in them beyond using the service.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep EdCal available and working well, as set out in our service level agreement with institutions. We release improvements three times a year, timed away from the start of term, and may make urgent fixes, such as security updates, at other times. Features may change as the service develops.
Support
If you need help, contact your institution's help desk first. They support you directly and contact us when they need to.
Liability
EdCal is provided to you through your institution, and our responsibilities to your institution, including any limits on liability, are set out in its contract with us. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the date at the top when we do, and tell institutions about significant changes.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
